CDC School Staff
Director: Ronald Kotkin, PhD.
Dr. Kotkin is currently A Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Director of the University of California at Irvine, Child Development Center Day Treatment Program for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He has been a special education teacher at the elementary school level. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of California. Dr. Kotkin previously served as a professor of special education in charge of a graduate degree and credentialing program in special education. In addition, he is a consultant to school districts in developing school-based interventions for children with attention and behavioral problems. He assisted Wood Canyon Elementary School in developing a school wide intervention plan. The State Department of Education recognized Wood Canyon Elementary School with the "Golden Bell" award for their exceptional school-based intervention program.
Dr. Kotkin has published multiple articles and chapters on school-based intervention and has recently co-edited a book, Therapist's Guide to Learning and Attention Disorders, with Aubrey Fine for practitioners on attention and learning problems in children and adolescents. He has developed the Irvine Paraprofessional Program, which has been recognized by the Kentucky Federal Resource Center as a "promising practice" for intervening with students with ADHD in the regular classroom. He was also presented an award, along with Jim Swanson and Steve Simpson, by CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) for development of the most innovative program in the country for serving ADHD children in the general education classroom. He has been a presenter at many international and national conferences and is also a contributed his expertise to a major National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) study on long term treatment effects of children with Attention Deficit Disorder.
Recently, Dr. Kotkin gave a presentation at the National Organization of Disorders of the Corpus Callosum.

CDC Staff consists of several valuable team members:
- Psychologists manage the treatment of students and run multi-family group meetings.
- Parent Training and Social Skills Coordinators and Counselors run outpatient and school classes.
- Behavioral specialists assist in the classroom along side teachers and have at least 1 year of training in the use of behavioral intervention in the classroom.
- Credentialed teachers who are skilled in implementing behavioral intervention in the classroom.
